Yesterday, Disneyland Paris became the focus of social media frenzy when CEO Catherine Powell officially announced the park’s upcoming 25th Anniversary celebrations, beginning in March 2017. It was the news we were all waiting for, but amid the constant stream of leaks and rumours we’ve had over the past few months from various sources, the confirmation of proposed plans did not come as a complete surprise. However, there were some additions that I hadn’t picked up on.
So what is in store for the park?
Starting off the celebrations, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will takes guests on an all new intergalactic adventure, giving them the opportunity to interact with various Star Wars destinations and characters. Each journey will provide the riders with different experiences, using the Force to make sure they return multiple times and enjoy the ever expanding world. They will also be able to join the Rebel Alliance and shoot through the galaxy on Hyperspace Mountain.
Disney Stars on Parade will grace Main Street USA, joining us all together with spectacular new music, costumes, and floats – one in particular being a twin to the Steampunk Maleficent dragon seen during Festival of Fantasy at Walt Disney World.
The magic and sparkle will continue with two other new daytime shows: Mickey Presents “Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris” where Mickey Mouse will bring together many of his famous friends to celebrate the occasion; and for the Princesses at heart, The Starlit Princess Waltz on the Royal Castle Stage will harness the glowing sparkle of their own special magic.
As night descends, Sleeping Beauty Castle (Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant) will be lit up by Disney Illuminations. This new spectacular conducted by Mickey Mouse will showcase all the technology we knew and loved from Dreams!, transporting audiences into the worlds of the Little Mermaid, Frozen, and the live action Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Personally, I think this sounds great! Disneyland Paris has always stepped up with the content of their entertainment during their anniversary years and I don’t see anything different regardless of the simplicity in the naming of next year’s productions. It’s likely that I won’t be able to get out there and join in the celebrations, although no birthday present would top being in the park for April 12th in particular (a hint to any family members of mine who might read this!) but I still can’t wait to find out the finer details of the shows and parades.
From what I see on the surface, it looks like the 25th Anniversary will be the pick-me-up that the park needs, and it will be exciting to see what truly comes out of it.
Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
